 Tamarind Mediterranean restaurant offers three floors of exquisite dining ambience with the authentic flavors of Mediterranean and North African cuisine, as well as some Asian selections. Open since 2000 we are the oldest Mediterranean restaurant in Phnom Penh. We are open daily for lunch and dinner from 10:00 am to 12:00 midnight.
Our ground floor bar is stocked with all of the popular spirits. Specialty cocktails include “Mojito Special” (rum, mint leaves, fresh lemon, cane sugar, and champagne - $10.00) and “El Diablo” (tequila, run, apricot cream, cane sugar, grenadine, lime juice - $3.00). Be sure to join us during Happy Hour (from 3 pm to 7 pm) everyday, when all cocktails are half price.
The wine selection at Tamarind is extensive. With a special focus on French reds and whites such as : “Louis Pinet” and “Mouton Cadet” we also offer selections from Italy, Spain, Chile, Argentina, Australia, and South Africa. Our house wines are available by the glass (starting at $3.00).
The seating area on the ground floor includes outdoor rattan tables and chairs surrounded by bamboo walls which offer a cozy environment for dining, relaxing and enjoying a refreshing cocktail.
 Our air-conditioned second floor dining room is festively decorated In Mediterranean pastel colors and checkered motifs with traditional Khmer artwork dressing the walls. In addition to the main seating area (with four tables for four) there are two outdoor balcony tables (for three) and two pillowed lounge tables (sitting four each) where you can take off your shoes and relax North African style with a small inset centerpiece which you can eat from.. These couches are set in a peaceful and colorful nest of purple and blue enclosed with silky pastel curtains and overhead ceiling fan.
Once you get tucked into your seating of choice you will find the food menu at Tamarind to offer an array of interesting and tasty dishes. To start, we offer a generous selection of Tapas. Various vegetarian, seafood and meat Tapas present the rich flavors of feta cheese, hummus, eggplant, squid , mussels, beef and chicken. Our Mezze dishes in styles from Lebanon, Spain, Morocco and Cambodia offer various samples of delectable appetizers from each cuisine. Our salads contain ingredients such as feta cheese, goat cheese, tomatoes, beef, fish, and chicken. Our soups include unique choices of Spinach and Harrira (a North African spice).
An airy and colorful second floor courtyard leads up to a cozy and opulent roof terrace adorned with lush vegetation, lily pad pond, tiled causeway and broken brick trim. As the sun goes down after 4:30pm this area enlivens to cool breezes and dim lighting which make it a perfect place for a bottle of fine wine, a meal and a warm chat.
 The main dishes offered at Tamarind include selections of sandwiches such as the Merguez (lamb sausage) ; Tagine Lamb and chicken accompanied by prunes, zucchini or olives ; Lamb, Chicken or beef Chawarma ; Couscous selections including meat and/or soup ; Tagliatelle pastas ; Pizzas with goat cheese, chicken, seafood or lamb sausage ; and various meat and fish filets including duck, salmon, tuna, scallops, and lamb.

Tamarind restaurant offers a few valuable services to our valued customers. We can deliver food orders to your home. In addition we provide catering to outside venues in the city. We can also cater your event in our restaurant, where you can have an exclusive private party on our second floor or rooftop terrace dining areas.
Many regular customers recommend Tamarind as the best Mediterranean dining experience in Cambodia. We invite you to try for yourself. As our restaurant often gets very busy, especially in the evenings it is always good to call ahead of time and make a reservation. |
